Description
GoLocavore will help connect residents with locally produced food by providing current information on vendors, markets and varietal availability in Ottawa.
Data sources used
Locally collected market and producer data as maintained by GoLocavore Ottawa and the producers themselves.
The value it provides to residents
The aim of the site is to help residents plan their meals, to buy food produced within 100 kilometers of the Ottawa and to support our local economy. Eating locally produced food means knowing what exactly is in-season and where it is available. Combined with the Twitter feed (http://twitter.com/go_locavore_ott) that announces new producers and markets as they come on-board, the site allows producers to get the word out on specially available produce and goods when they become available.

Is this data in the city open data? Where do you find such data?

good but add numbers or addresses on the listing so the map 'bullets' can be identified vs which is which on the listing

Pretty neat tool!
It helped me find a local chicken farmer (Ashton Naturals) that can fill up my freezer with chickeny goodness! -

Mmmmm... chicken.
Glad to hear it hooked you up with a new producer. Please let them know how you found them. Things should really be ramping back up pretty soon this spring as market and growing season approach. Thanks for all the support.
